About North Ashrose
Merino & Poll Merino Stud

North Ashrose Merino & Poll Merino Stud as we know it today is owned by father and son, Tom and Angus Ashby. They’re backed by generations of breeding Stud Merinos - dating back to WB Ashby who founded the original Stud in 1910.

The main property ‘Bundaleer’ is situated centrally between Spalding and Gulnare, approximately 50 kilometres north of Clare, South Australia, in a 450ml rainfall area. North Ashrose is originally from a Collinsville blood base and has a consistent average micron of 20.2. The ewe flock has a solid background of structural soundness and constitution. Our aim is to breed dual-purpose sheep to enhance our clients’ meat and wool clip production. North Ashrose Merino and Poll Merino sheep are sound in conformation and have strong carcass and meat traits, along with quality, well-nourished fibre while maintaining fleece weight on a plain-bodied Merino.

North Ashrose has achieved many outstanding show and sale accolades over the years, but no achievements are greater than the performance and success of the North Ashrose bloodlines experienced by clients; both stud & commercial within the Merino industry. Local, interstate and international clients consistently report high returns for their quality wool clip and achieve reliable livestock sales.

The North Ashrose breeding program is ever-evolving with continual assessment and evaluation of market trends, as well as breeding technology and new innovations. The Stud is consistently using AI and embryo transfer programs to improve the quality and genetics of our livestock and we are continuously evaluating animals for the sustainable future.

North Ashrose is committed to sustainability, profitability and improving the depth and volume of the entire flock to offer more selection for our clients.
